Sovereign Tower / Sovrana Torre

Amidst the clouds
Like sheep floating in the sky
The sovereign tower reigns
Above the roofs of
An ever changing land

A livid sky on London
On summer I can't bear
Memories of a story
I can no longer tell

Perduta in un'isola distante
Tra le nuvole
Come piccole pecore
Che galleggiano nell'aria
La sovrana torre regna
Sopra i tetti
di una terra che sempre cambia

Livido cielo a Londra
d'estate non posso suportare
Memorie di una storia
Che già non posso raccontare..

London, July 26, 2007. Angelo (Italian version) & Isabella (English version).
I wrote this poem with an Italian classmate as I was trying to help her do our assignment. I agreed to help her only if I wrote it in Italian and she corrected it. Then we translated into English. We also used some of her original ideas, which she hadn't like. Personally, I prefer the Italian version! CheerS!

Shipwreck

An upstream of thoughts
Run relentlessly
Through the weight
Of guilt and fear

Fearlessly I stare
Over and up
On and down
Resenting what
I do not know

An acknowledgement of ignorance
Astonishment of senseless images
Back and forth
Makes it uselessly lost
In a web of dreams and desires

Like the shipwreck sailor
Comes up bare
On the rocks
The immense distance
Between heaven and hell
Lightning and ground
Sun or rain
What storm have I
Inside ?
Run away and fly
Jump from the ledge
Up in the sky
Let me fall down
Swiftly
On what I think is my life

London, July 25, 2007. This poem is based on my impressions to the painting "A Shipwreck" by Géricault, which is at the National Gallery , Trafalgar Square, London.

London, London, Londinium

Veni, vici et odi...

Hidden in a burrow
Like a rodent
Escaping from a predator
I shake and I shake
I hear all the noise
I look at my surroundings
I feel the most alone
I travel on the underground
Music is my savior, oblivion is my choice
Look up high
The oppression of the buildings
Lost in confusion
Amidst all sorts of people
I vanish into the crowd
But not finding my way

I dream of blue seas
I dream of blue skies
So much for a city
I know will never die

London, London, Londinium
I'm saying you "goodbye"
